How to get a video under 8 MB
- Tap Pick a video.
- Keep 8 MB picked. The page tells you how sharp it will be.
- Tap Compress. It aims just under 8 MB and checks the result, so it fits the first time.
What fits in 8 MB
8 MB is tight, so the picture size steps down as the clip gets longer:
- About 10 seconds stays 1080p.
- 20 seconds comes out 720p.
- 30 seconds comes out 540p, and 45 seconds 480p.
- From a minute on, it gets soft. Cut the clip to the part that matters: a short sharp clip beats a long blurry one.
Turning the sound off in More options gives the picture a little more room.
Sending to Discord?
Discord’s free limit was 8 MB for years, then 10 MB, and since August 2026 it’s 20 MB. If your clip is going to Discord, make it 20 MB for a much sharper picture. 8 MB is still the size for forums, school and work portals, and anywhere else with an older limit.
