Video compressor

Make any video small enough for Discord, WhatsApp or email. It never leaves your phone.

Nothing uploaded. Try it in airplane mode.

How to compress a video

  1. Tap Pick a video and choose one from your camera roll or files. MP4 and MOV both work, including iPhone videos.
  2. Pick where it’s going: Discord, WhatsApp, email, or any size in MB. Before you start, the page tells you how sharp it will be.
  3. Tap Compress. Check the result, then save it or send it straight from your share menu.

Sizes that fit

  • Discord: 20 MB. The free limit since August 2026. Discord’s other limits.
  • WhatsApp: 64 MB at 720p. WhatsApp takes videos up to 100 MB on a fast connection and 64 MB on a slow one, and shrinks them to 720p itself. Under 64 MB goes through on any connection.
  • Email: 15 MB. Gmail and Yahoo allow 25 MB and Outlook and iCloud 20 MB, but attachments grow by about a third on the way. 15 MB gets through all of them.
  • Anything else: pick Other size and type the size you need. Need it under 8 MB?

Will it still look good?

A size limit is a budget for the picture, and we spend it where it shows. At 20 MB, a clip up to about 30 seconds stays 1080p and a one-minute clip comes out 720p, so it stays sharp instead of turning into blocks. The page tells you what to expect before you start. If a clip is too long for the size, cut it: sending the part that matters looks far better than squeezing all of it.

The result is always an MP4 that plays everywhere: Discord, WhatsApp, iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. It’s never bigger than your original, and the sound comes along unless you turn it off.

Private by design

Your video is made smaller on your phone, by the phone’s own video chip. It isn’t sent anywhere, so there’s no upload to wait for, no queue, no file-size cap and no watermark. After your first visit it even works in airplane mode. Here’s how to check.

Questions

How do I compress a video without losing quality?
Pick the biggest size the place you’re sending it allows. At 20 MB, a clip up to about 30 seconds stays 1080p. For longer clips, cut the parts you don’t need: that keeps the picture sharp.
How long does it take?
It depends on your device and the length of the clip. The page shows the time left while it works. Keep the screen on: phones pause pages in the background.
Is there a file size limit?
Not from us. Your video is read in pieces, so even a long 4K clip works. Longer clips just take longer.
Which phones and browsers does it work on?
iPhone and iPad with Safari on iOS 16.4 or later, Android with Chrome or Samsung Internet, and computers with Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. Firefox on Android can’t do it yet.
Which formats does it take?
MP4 and MOV, which is what phones and most cameras make, including iPhone HEVC videos. The result is always an MP4.
Is it really free? Is there a watermark?
Yes, it’s free, with no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many videos you make smaller.
Is my video uploaded?
No. It never leaves your device. Turn on airplane mode after the page has loaded and it still works.
